Madhya Pradesh : Tension erupted in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain on Monday night after a speeding bus allegedly hit and killed two cows on the Ujjain-Indore Highway, leading to anger among villagers. The bus, which belonged to BJP MLA from Indore, Golu Shukla, was set on fire following the incident.

The accident took place near Ramwasa village under the Nanakheda police station area when the bus, carrying passengers from Indore to Ujjain, collided with two cows. Both animals died on the spot.

Following the incident, several villagers gathered at the spot and stopped the bus. Passengers, fearing the situation, got down from the vehicle, while the driver and conductor reportedly fled from the scene.

Amid the growing crowd, some people allegedly vandalised the bus and set it on fire. Within a short time, the vehicle was completely destroyed. Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot after receiving information, but the bus had already been reduced to ashes before the flames could be brought under control.

Nanakheda police have started an investigation into the incident. While eyewitness accounts and videos from the spot indicate that the bus was attacked by a crowd, police officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the fire.

Nanakheda police station in-charge Narendra Yadav said that the reason behind the fire was still under investigation and that a short circuit was also being considered as a possible cause.
