Hyderabad Man Allegedly Kills Lover Over Marriage Dispute, Hides Body in Gunny Bag
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her boyfriend following an argument over their relationship, with police saying her body was later found concealed inside a gunny bag at her rented home.
The victim, identified as Rehana, was originally from Bihar and worked at a banquet hall. Police said she had been in a relationship for around a year with Ahmad Salam, also 21 and originally from Bihar.
According to investigators, tensions had reportedly been growing between the couple. Police are looking into whether disagreements over marriage and Rehana’s alleged closeness to another man played a role in the incident.
Argument allegedly turns fatal
Police suspect that an argument between Rehana and Salam escalated at her rented accommodation.
During the confrontation, Salam allegedly attacked her with a knife, resulting in her death.
Investigators believe he then attempted to conceal the crime by placing her body inside a gunny bag before fleeing the area.
The incident came to light after police received a Dial 100 emergency call at around 5 am.
A Sub-Inspector was sent to the location and reportedly found Rehana’s body wrapped inside a gunny bag in the bedroom.
Police describe the discovery
ACP Adibatla Pradeep Kumar Reddy confirmed that the woman had been found dead inside the accommodation.
He said police received the emergency call early in the morning and officers immediately reached the scene. The woman’s body was found wrapped in a gunny bag, with injuries indicating that she had been murdered.
Investigators subsequently began collecting evidence and speaking to people who knew the victim.
Accused allegedly on the run
Police said Salam works as a labourer at function halls and is currently absconding.
According to the preliminary investigation, the couple had been together for about a year. Police said Rehana had reportedly been pressuring Salam to marry her, and investigators are examining whether that dispute contributed to the alleged attack.
Authorities are now trying to trace Salam and establish the exact sequence of events leading up to Rehana’s death.
Police are also investigating whether anyone else may have been involved.
Investigation underway
Rehana’s body has been moved to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
A murder case has been registered, and investigators are continuing to collect evidence and record statements from the victim’s family and other people connected to the case.
While police have identified a possible relationship-related motive, the investigation is still underway and the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged murder will have to be established through the evidence collected.
