CCigmaa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd Factory Sealed by FDA Over Misleading Product Claims and Fake Address in Bhiwandi
Mumbai: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sealed the manufacturing unit of CCigmaa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd in Bhiwandi after uncovering multiple alleged violations involving misleading product claims, fake business details, and regulatory non-compliance. The action was taken during an inspection conducted on Tuesday as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to protect consumers from deceptive cosmetic products.
According to FDA officials, the company was marketing a wide range of cosmetic and personal care products on various e-commerce platforms while making claims such as “sulfate-free” and “paraben-free” on product labels. However, investigators alleged that these claims were misleading and not supported by proper testing or documentation.
During the raid, the FDA seized a large quantity of finished cosmetic products, raw materials, and manufacturing machinery from the factory. The products manufactured by the company reportedly included shampoos, hair serums, hair oils, baby lotions, baby powder, sunscreens, face washes, dandruff-control shampoos, and perfumes designed for both adults and children.
The investigation also revealed that CCigmaa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd had allegedly printed a fake business address in Andheri on the packaging of its products, despite operating from Bhiwandi. Officials said this false information could mislead consumers and make it difficult to trace the actual source of the products.
In addition, the FDA found that the company had not conducted mandatory quality testing for its cosmetic products. Authorities also claimed that the manufacturing unit was operating without a valid manufacturing licence. Many of the seized products reportedly lacked essential details required under law, including batch numbers and other mandatory labeling information that help ensure product traceability and consumer safety.
Following the findings, the FDA filed a complaint against the company at Narpoli Police Station under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the alleged violations and whether additional legal action will be taken.
The FDA stated that such enforcement measures are aimed at ensuring cosmetic products sold in the market meet safety standards and comply with legal requirements, particularly when they are marketed through online platforms where consumers rely heavily on product labels and claims.
