27-Year-Old Arrested After Two Men Stabbed at Edmonton Gurdwara, Suspect Released From Prison a Day Earlier
Edmonton, Canada: Two men were injured after a 27-year-old man allegedly stabbed them inside a gurdwara in Edmonton, Canada, on Friday morning. Police said the suspect had been released from a federal correctional institution just one day before the incident and was supposed to report to a halfway house in the city.
The incident took place at the Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple during the early morning hours. According to Edmonton Police Service, officers first received a report at around 4:49 am about a man walking in traffic on Highway 15 near Horsehill Road.
About 15 minutes later, police received reports of a stabbing at the gurdwara.
According to the preliminary investigation, the man entered the place of worship and attempted to enter the prayer area. Staff members confronted him, following which the situation escalated.
Two male worshippers who were at the gurdwara became involved in the confrontation and were stabbed with a screwdriver, police said.

After his release, he was required to report to a designated halfway house in Edmonton. However, police said he failed to report there.
