Three Masked Men Allegedly Burgle Alka Lamba’s 88-Year-Old Father’s Home, Congress Leader Shares CCTV Footage

New Delhi | August 31, 2026 : A burglary at the Delhi home of Congress leader Alka Lamba’s 88-year-old father has raised fresh concerns about security in the national capital. According to police and Lamba’s account, three masked men allegedly entered the house in the early hours of Sunday, took cash and jewellery, and escaped on a motorcycle.

Lamba, who is the president of the All India Mahila Congress, shared CCTV footage of the incident on social media, showing the suspected burglars entering and leaving the property.

The incident reportedly took place in the Tagore Garden area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rajouri Garden police station.

CCTV Captures Suspects Entering the House

The CCTV footage shared by Lamba shows two men approaching and entering the house during daylight hours. A third person can be seen nearby with a motorcycle, according to the footage.

All three individuals appear to have covered their faces, leaving only their eyes visible. One of the men can also be seen carrying a black backpack.

In another clip, the third suspect reportedly walks towards the property and enters the house. The men are later seen coming out of the premises, leaving the outer gate open before moving towards the motorcycle parked some distance away.

The suspects then allegedly fled from the area on the same motorcycle.

Lamba Says Her Father’s Savings Were Stolen

In posts shared on her official X account, Lamba said that her elderly father had lost his savings in the burglary.

She expressed concern over the safety of residents in Delhi, particularly elderly people, and questioned whether people could still feel secure inside their own homes.

Lamba alleged that the suspects entered the house at around 6:15 am and managed to leave within approximately ten minutes after taking valuables.

She said the incident had created an atmosphere of fear in the neighbourhood and urged the police to act quickly.

Police Begin Investigation

According to officials cited by PTI, a case has been registered in connection with the burglary.

Police are examining CCTV recordings from the house as well as cameras installed in surrounding streets and areas. Investigators are expected to track the movements of the suspects and the motorcycle in an effort to identify and locate them.

Lamba has said that CCTV footage from the area could provide important clues and claimed that the initial footage had already been shared with the police.

She has also tagged senior Delhi Police officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North West district and the Commissioner of Police, seeking action in the case.

Focus on CCTV Network to Identify Suspects

With the suspects appearing to have carefully concealed their identities, CCTV footage from neighbouring properties and roads could prove important to the investigation.

Police are likely to examine the route taken by the motorcycle before and after the alleged burglary. Investigators may also check footage from nearby roads, intersections and other locations to establish where the suspects came from and where they went after leaving the property.

The use of face coverings has made identification more difficult, but investigators can potentially use vehicle movement and other visual clues to establish the suspects’ identities.

Security Concerns Raised After Burglary

The incident has sparked concern among residents, particularly in neighbourhoods where elderly people live alone or spend significant periods without family members around.

For Lamba’s family, the alleged burglary has been especially distressing because of her father’s age. The Congress leader has used the incident to question the overall law-and-order situation in Delhi and has called for a swift investigation.

While police continue to investigate the case, the CCTV footage could become a key piece of evidence in tracing the suspects.

The incident serves as another reminder for residents to remain vigilant and for authorities to strengthen surveillance and security measures in residential areas.

For now, police are working to establish the identities of the three masked men and recover the stolen cash and jewellery. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
