Law Student Dies at Mumbai Concert, Police Probe Alcohol and Possible Drug Angle

Mumbai: A night of music and celebration ended in tragedy after a 28-year-old law student collapsed and died during a techno music concert at Mumbai’s NSCI Dome, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased, identified as Vrushabh Gangurde, reportedly fell unconscious while attending the event on Saturday evening. He was immediately rushed to Breach Candy Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police suspect that excessive alcohol consumption may have played a role in the incident, though investigators have not ruled out the possibility of narcotics involvement. Officials said the exact cause of death will only be known after the post-mortem report is received.
An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at Tardeo Police Station, and authorities are examining CCTV footage and other electronic evidence from the venue as part of the investigation.
In a related development, a 31-year-old woman attending the same event reportedly suffered health complications after consuming alcohol and energy drinks. She was admitted to Jaslok Hospital and is currently stable. According to police, she stated that she had not consumed any illegal substances.
The incident has once again raised concerns about safety measures at large-scale music festivals and nightlife events in Mumbai. It comes just two months after two management students allegedly died from a suspected drug overdose during a techno concert in Goregaon, a case that led to multiple arrests and exposed alleged drug circulation at such gatherings.
As investigators continue to gather evidence, authorities are expected to review security protocols, medical preparedness, and anti-narcotics measures at major entertainment events across the city.
