Journalist Who Reported Ram Temple Donation Irregularities Moves Supreme Court Against FIR

New Delhi : A journalist who had reported alleged irregularities in the handling of donations at Ayodhya’s Ram temple has approached the Supreme Court, challenging an FIR registered against him by Ghaziabad Police in connection with an alleged road-rage incident.

Journalist Abhishek Upadhyay has claimed that the case against him is based on false and fabricated allegations and is an attempt to intimidate him because of his independent journalistic work.

In his petition, Upadhyay said that he has not been provided with a copy of the FIR. He also alleged that police officials were pressuring shopkeepers in the area to delete CCTV footage recorded around the time of the alleged incident.

The journalist has therefore sought the Supreme Court’s intervention, questioning the FIR and the circumstances in which it was registered.

The case has drawn attention because of Upadhyay’s earlier reporting on alleged issues surrounding donations collected for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. However, the allegations made in his petition remain his claims and have not been established by the court.
