Rahul Gandhi Urges Hemant Soren to Meet Jharkhand Students Protesting Recruitment Exam Irregularities
New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has stepped in amid the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand, urging Chief Minister Hemant Soren to personally meet representatives of the protesting students and listen to their concerns.
In a letter addressed to Soren on August 14, Gandhi said the students had been protesting peacefully for several weeks against alleged irregularities in the state’s recruitment examinations. He described their demands as legitimate and said their concerns deserved serious attention from the government.
The protests have continued for 24 days, with students raising allegations related to paper leaks and other irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in the state. Some protesters have also reportedly been on an indefinite hunger strike, increasing pressure on the Jharkhand government to find a resolution.
Rahul Gandhi said the Congress supports the constitutional right of students to hold peaceful protests. He pointed out that the party has consistently supported young people who have raised concerns about alleged examination irregularities and problems within the education and recruitment system.
