32-Year-Old Woman Dies After Falling From Fifth Floor In Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 32-year-old woman died after falling from the fifth floor of a residential building in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) Colony on Monday afternoon.
The woman, identified as Sheetal Purushotham, was reportedly a native of Kannur, Kerala, and lived with her family at Panchavati Apartments on 6th Phase Road.
The incident took place at around 4:30 pm on August 24. According to CCTV footage from the entrance of the residential complex, two children were playing near the main gate when they heard a loud sound. One of them reportedly turned around and saw the woman lying on the ground.
She died at the spot.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicated that Sheetal had been experiencing depression and was undergoing medical treatment. However, officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding her death and have not yet established what led to the incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are examining available evidence, including CCTV footage and statements from people who may have witnessed events before the incident.
The case has also brought attention to the importance of recognising mental health struggles and ensuring that people experiencing emotional distress have access to timely and compassionate support.
In an unrelated incident in Andhra Pradesh, five members of a family were found dead at a lodge in Nandyal district in what police suspect may have been a case of suicide. The incident came to light on Tuesday after lodge staff noticed a foul smell coming from their room.
Police said the family had arrived in Srisailam on August 20 and had been staying in room number 11 at Vaddera Satram. When the room was opened, three women were found hanging in the bathroom and two men were found hanging from a ceiling fan.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations, while police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
