Twisha Sharma Death Case: Husband Tells SIT She Was Distressed After Abortion, Claims He Gave Her ₹7 Lakh

The investigation into the death of former actor-model Twisha Sharma has intensified, with her husband Samarth Singh telling investigators that she had been emotionally distressed following an abortion and claiming that he had given her ₹7 lakh.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday recreated the crime scene at the couple’s residence in Bhopal for more than two hours as part of the ongoing probe. Twisha, 33, was found hanging at her home in the Katara Hills area on May 12.
According to police sources quoted by ANI, Samarth Singh was questioned for nearly three hours after the reconstruction exercise. Investigators reportedly suspect that he attempted to mislead officials while answering questions about the period during which he was allegedly absconding after the incident.
During the interrogation, Samarth maintained that Twisha had been under emotional stress after undergoing an abortion. He also told the SIT that he had financially supported her by giving her ₹7 lakh.
As part of the investigation, police have seized his laptop, mobile phone, passport, Aadhaar card and other important documents for forensic examination.
Meanwhile, the probe has now officially been taken over by Central Bureau of Investigation. The agency registered an FIR against Samarth Singh and his mother Giribala Singh after taking over the case from the Madhya Pradesh Police.
The FIR includes charges under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as well as provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Authorities are investigating allegations of dowry harassment, domestic abuse and mental torture raised by Twisha’s family.
According to investigators, Samarth had taken Twisha to AIIMS Bhopal on the night of May 12, claiming she had hanged herself at home. Doctors later declared her brought dead.
The post-mortem report reportedly stated that the cause of death was “antemortem hanging by ligature”, but it also noted multiple simple injuries on different parts of her body that may have been caused by blunt force.
Twisha’s family has alleged that she faced continuous harassment from her husband and in-laws over dowry after her marriage in December 2025. The FIR also mentions that she had spoken to her mother shortly before the incident occurred.
