Fire Breaks Out at Nature’s Basket Store in Mumbai’s Bandra, No Casualties Reported
Mumbai: A fire broke out in the basement storeroom of a Nature’s Basket outlet located inside a commercial-cum-residential building on Hill Road in Mumbai’s Bandra West area early Saturday morning. The incident created panic among residents and shopkeepers in the busy locality, but a quick response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade helped bring the situation under control before it could spread further.
According to fire officials, the emergency call was received at around 12:30 am, following which multiple fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the location. Four Mumbai Fire Brigade vehicles reached the spot and began operations to control the flames.
Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) S.K. Bandgar said the fire had broken out in the basement storeroom of the Nature’s Basket store. Since the blaze was inside the basement, a large amount of smoke had accumulated, making firefighting operations challenging.
Firefighters entered the smoke-filled area using breathing apparatus equipment and worked with hose lines to contain the fire. After sustained efforts, the blaze was brought under control, preventing further damage to the building and nearby areas.
“There was heavy smoke accumulation due to the fire being located in the basement. Our teams used breathing apparatus sets to safely enter the area and successfully controlled the situation,” officials said.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The building’s occupants and nearby residents were safe, and there was no immediate report of major structural damage.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fire department officials are conducting an investigation to find out what triggered the blaze inside the basement storeroom.
