CBI Court Denies Bail to Two Former Reliance Communications Executives in Bank Fraud Case

Mumbai: A special CBI court has rejected the bail pleas of two former senior executives of Reliance Communications (RCOM) who are accused in a bank fraud case, keeping them in judicial custody as the investigation continues.

Special Judge Nitin V. Jiwane, on July 9, dismissed the bail applications filed by Viswanath Devaraja Rao (67), former Senior Vice President and Joint President of RCOM, and Anil Jamna Kalya (52), a chartered accountant, who are facing allegations linked to financial irregularities.

The court’s decision came after considering the allegations raised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the seriousness of the case. The agency has been probing the alleged fraud involving financial transactions and the role of former company officials.

The accused had sought bail, arguing for relief during the ongoing legal proceedings. However, the court decided that their custody was necessary at this stage of the investigation.

The CBI case is part of a larger probe into alleged banking fraud and financial misconduct involving RCOM-related matters. Investigators are examining the roles of various individuals and officials connected with the company’s financial dealings.

With the bail pleas rejected, both former executives will remain in custody until further proceedings in the case take place. The matter will now continue through the judicial process, where the allegations will be examined in detail.
