Tamil Nadu Government Formation Live Updates: AIADMK Weighs NDA Exit as Political Drama Intensifies

Tamil Nadu’s post-election political scene has turned dramatic after actor-politician Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam fell just five seats short of a majority. With no party crossing the required mark, attention has now shifted to smaller parties like Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.

Sources suggest All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam may consider breaking ties with the National Democratic Alliance if TVK fails to secure enough support to form the government. This move could open the door for outside support from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, led by caretaker Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.

Meanwhile, the DMK held a key strategy meeting in Chennai to discuss alliance coordination and next steps. Reports indicate some leaders fear Vijay’s rise could mirror the political dominance once held by M. G. Ramachandran.

Governor R. V. Arlekar has so far declined Vijay’s request to form the government, citing lack of majority proof. TVK, however, insists it can prove numbers on the Assembly floor.

Adding to the tension, TVK supporters have launched protests and hunger strikes in Chennai demanding Vijay be sworn in as Chief Minister.

The election delivered a hung Assembly, with TVK winning 108 seats in the 234-member House, followed by DMK (59) and AIADMK (47), setting the stage for intense negotiations in the days ahead
