Suvendu Adhikari Credits ‘Hindu Consolidation’ as BJP Moves Toward Major Win in West Bengal

As counting continued in the West Bengal Assembly elections, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suvendu Adhikari expressed confidence that the party is heading toward a major victory in the state.

Speaking after early trends showed BJP gaining momentum, Adhikari said strong voter consolidation in favour of the party had played a key role in the results.

BJP Confident of Forming Government

Adhikari said the BJP expects to form the next government in West Bengal, adding that support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promises of development had helped the party gain ground.

According to early counting trends, BJP was performing strongly in several constituencies, putting pressure on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress.

Tight Contest in Bhabanipur

Adhikari, who is contesting from both Bhabanipur and Nandigram, said Bhabanipur initially looked like a close fight but remained optimistic that later counting rounds would favour him.

Bhabanipur is a high-profile seat as it is associated with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, making the contest politically significant.

Strong Showing in Nandigram

The BJP leader also said he performed much better than expected in Nandigram, claiming he received nearly three times more votes than in previous elections.

Nandigram has remained one of Bengal’s most closely watched battlegrounds since the last election.

Political Message

Adhikari’s remarks reflect BJP’s belief that anti-incumbency, voter shifts, and consolidation among supporters have boosted the party’s chances in Bengal.

If the trends continue, the state could witness one of its most dramatic political changes in recent years.
