PM Modi’s US Visit Focuses On Quad Unity, Global Peace And Stronger Partnerships

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his three-day visit to the United States with a warm welcome from the Indian community, as world leaders gathered for the Quad Summit in Wilmington, Delaware. The visit highlighted growing cooperation between India, the US, Australia, and Japan on regional security, peace efforts, and humanitarian initiatives.

During the summit, leaders of the Quad nations — India, the US, Australia, and Japan — issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a free, open, and stable Indo-Pacific region. The countries stressed the importance of maritime security, peace, and regional cooperation amid rising global tensions.

One of the key developments from the summit was the Quad nations expressing deep concern over the ongoing war in Ukraine. The leaders called for a comprehensive and lasting peace in line with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. They also highlighted the humanitarian impact of the conflict and the need to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Quad countries additionally condemned North Korea’s continued ballistic missile launches and nuclear weapons programme, calling the actions a serious threat to global peace and stability. The leaders urged North Korea to return to meaningful dialogue and comply with UN Security Council resolutions.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi held bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, security, technology, space, and cultural exchanges.

The Quad nations also announced new regional initiatives, including the launch of a Quad Indo-Pacific Logistics Network pilot project aimed at improving disaster response and humanitarian assistance across the Indo-Pacific region. Leaders further revealed plans for the first-ever Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission in 2025 to enhance maritime coordination and safety.

At the Quad leaders’ Cancer Moonshot event, PM Modi announced India’s support package worth $7.5 million, including sampling kits, detection kits, and vaccines to strengthen healthcare cooperation.

Following the summit in Delaware, PM Modi departed for New York to participate in the “Summit of the Future” at the United Nations, where he is expected to hold more high-level meetings and address key global issues.
