Piramal Pharma Reports Strong Sustainability Progress, Cuts Emissions by 22.6% and Raises Renewable Energy Use to 41%

Mumbai, August 26, 2026: Piramal Pharma Limited has reported significant progress in its environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts, with the pharmaceutical company reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 22.6% compared with its FY2022 baseline.

The company has also increased the share of renewable energy in its overall energy consumption to 41%, marking another step forward in its long-term efforts to make its operations more sustainable.

The achievements were highlighted in Piramal Pharma’s Sustainability Report 2025–26, released under the theme “Advancing Innovation, Leveraging Sustainability.” The report outlines how the company is incorporating sustainability into its business strategy, manufacturing operations and innovation plans while focusing on long-term value for patients, customers, employees, communities and other stakeholders.

Focus on Cleaner and More Responsible Operations

One of the key highlights of the report is Piramal Pharma’s continued progress on climate action. The company said it achieved its lowest-ever Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions during the reporting period, representing a 22.6% reduction from the FY2022 baseline.

Renewable energy now accounts for 41% of the company’s total energy consumption across its operations.

Piramal Pharma also reported that it recycled and reused around 2.63 lakh kilolitres of freshwater during the year. In addition, 65% of its total waste was diverted for recycling, reflecting its efforts to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

The company is pursuing these initiatives as part of its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-approved decarbonisation roadmap, which provides a structured framework for reducing emissions over the long term.

During FY2025–26, the company successfully completed 38 regulatory inspections, including three inspections by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). The company said all three USFDA inspections concluded with zero Official Action Indicated (OAI) observations.

Piramal Pharma also underwent 209 customer audits, highlighting the focus on maintaining quality and compliance standards across its global manufacturing operations.

The company is also investing in technology to modernise its operations. Its digital transformation efforts include the Catalyst NxGen programme, implementation of SAP S/4HANA and the wider adoption of digital quality management systems.

$90 Million Investment in Advanced Therapeutics

As part of its efforts to strengthen its future manufacturing capabilities, Piramal Pharma has announced a US$90 million investment to expand advanced therapeutics capabilities at its facilities in Lexington and Riverview.

The investment is expected to support the company’s capabilities in advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing and strengthen its position in the global healthcare market.

Governance and Employee Development

The sustainability report also highlighted Piramal Pharma’s governance and people-focused initiatives.

The company reported zero data breach incidents and zero corruption cases during the reporting period. It also achieved 100% completion of ESG training among employees, while all employees completed Code of Conduct training.

Diversity and inclusion remained another area of focus. Women accounted for 30% of the company’s Board and 20.1% of its global workforce.

Piramal Pharma also assessed 38% of its critical suppliers against sustainability criteria as part of its responsible supply-chain programme.

₹8.98 Crore Spent on CSR Initiatives

Piramal Pharma said its sustainability efforts extend beyond its own operations and into the communities where it operates.

During FY2025–26, the company invested ₹8.98 crore in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Its healthcare and education programmes reportedly reached nearly 1.8 million people across 112 Aspirational Districts.

The company said it continued to focus on community development, employee well-being and stronger engagement with stakeholders through its various social initiatives.
