Game On! Kia and Skoda Set to Take on Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV 3XO with Two New Budget SUVs

The sub-4 meter SUV segment in India is heating up, with established players like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV 3XO currently dominating the market. However, two new contenders—Kia Syros and Skoda Kylaq—are gearing up to challenge these popular models. Both SUVs are set to offer competitive pricing and features, making the segment even more exciting.

Kia Syros: A Premium Yet Affordable Option
Kia is all set to unveil the prices for the Syros on 1st February 2025. This premium sub-4 meter SUV promises spacious interiors, making it a comfortable choice for families. The Syros will come with two engine options: a 1.0L petrol engine producing 120bhp/172Nm and a 1.5L diesel engine with 116bhp/250Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, but buyers can opt for automatic transmissions: a 7-speed DCT with the petrol variant and a 6-speed torque converter with the diesel variant.

Inside, the Kia Syros boasts a range of premium features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch HD display instrument cluster, automatic climate control, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front and rear seats, and even a wireless phone charger. It also comes with advanced driver-assistance features like the ADAS Level 2 system, offering 16 autonomous features.

Skoda Kylaq: A Budget-Friendly Powerhouse
Skoda has already announced the pricing for the Kylaq, which will range from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries will begin on 27th January 2024. The Kylaq will be available in four trims: Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. Powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine producing 115bhp and 178Nm, the Kylaq promises a smooth driving experience with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option. Skoda claims the Kylaq can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.5 seconds, making it a fun yet efficient ride.

On the inside, the Kylaq offers a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a two-spoke steering wheel, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry, and powered seat adjustments for both the driver and the front passenger.

With both the Kia Syros and Skoda Kylaq offering a mix of performance, comfort, and technology at competitive prices, the competition in the sub-4 meter SUV market is sure to intensify.
