From Sleepless Nights To Second Chances: Bhopal Couple Saves Marriage After Snoring Dispute

Bhopal : What began as a nightly annoyance nearly ended a marriage in Bhopal, where a couple found themselves on the verge of divorce — all because of loud snoring.

In an unusual case handled by family counselors in the city, a woman approached for divorce not because of abuse, incompatibility, or family conflict, but because her husband’s constant snoring had left her exhausted and frustrated.

According to the woman, her husband was otherwise a caring and supportive partner, and she had no complaints about his nature, his family, or their relationship. Her only concern was the lack of sleep.

She told the counselor that staying awake night after night due to his loud snoring had become unbearable, affecting her mental peace and leading to frequent arguments.

What made the situation more complicated was that the husband refused to believe he snored at all. This denial only increased the tension between them, turning every morning into an argument.

The case came before senior family counselor Rita Tuli in Bhopal, who is used to handling serious marital disputes involving domestic violence, harassment, and emotional incompatibility. But this case stood out because there was no major issue in the marriage apart from what happened while they slept.

Tuli explained that there were no signs of physical or emotional abuse. The wife had repeatedly made it clear that her husband was a good man and that the marriage itself was not broken — only their nights had become difficult.

Instead of allowing the couple to move quickly toward divorce, the counselor suggested a different approach: live separately for three months and use that time to reflect.

The idea was to give both partners space to understand whether their problem was truly serious enough to end the relationship or just a temporary frustration.

When the couple returned after the separation, the outcome surprised everyone.

They admitted that despite the sleep troubles and daily fights, they deeply missed each other. The distance helped them realise that their bond was stronger than the issue that had driven them apart.

Both agreed that there had never been any form of abuse or toxicity in their marriage and acknowledged that ending their relationship over snoring would have been an emotional decision they might later regret.

After counseling and honest conversations, the couple chose to withdraw their divorce plans and give their marriage another chance.

The story serves as a reminder that sometimes small issues can feel overwhelming in the moment, but with communication, patience, and guidance, even unusual conflicts can find a solution.
