Bihar Government’s New Social Media Rule: Creators Can Earn Up To ₹1 Lakh Per Video

Bihar : The Bihar government has introduced a new incentive for social media creators who promote its schemes and programmes, with popular videos potentially earning creators up to ₹1 lakh.

The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved an amendment to the Bihar Social Media and Other Online Media Rules, 2026, along with 12 other proposals.

Under the new rules, empanelled social media creators who make videos about Bihar government schemes can receive an additional ₹10,000 for every 1 lakh views their video gets after 30 days. The views will be verified before payment is made.

However, there is a limit. The maximum amount a creator can receive for a single video is ₹1 lakh.

The state’s Information and Public Relations Department is expected to issue a detailed notification explaining the eligibility criteria and other conditions.

The new rules will also include regular checks of the follower counts of social media handles, pages and channels listed under the programme.

The move is aimed at using the growing reach of social media creators to spread awareness about government schemes and programmes among people.

In another key decision, the Cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding between Bihar’s Information Technology Department and Taiyo AI India Pvt Ltd to help develop an artificial intelligence ecosystem in the state.
