Ronaldo’s Hamstring Injury Worse Than Expected, Al Nassr Coach Confirms

Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent injury has turned out to be more serious than initially feared, according to Jorge Jesus, head coach of Al Nassr.

The Portuguese superstar suffered a hamstring problem during Al Nassr’s 3–1 win over Al Fayha in the Saudi Pro League last weekend and was forced to leave the pitch early.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Jesus said medical tests revealed the injury was more severe than the club initially believed.

“In the last game, Cristiano left with a muscle injury,” Jesus said. “After the tests he underwent, it became clear that it is a more serious injury than we were expecting.”

Treatment in Spain

Ronaldo is expected to travel to Spain for treatment and rehabilitation, where he will work with his personal physiotherapist. The club hopes rest and proper recovery will allow the veteran forward to return as soon as possible.

“Cristiano will need rest and recovery,” Jesus added. “We hope he will return soon to help the team.”

Doubt Over Portugal Friendlies

The injury could also affect Ronaldo’s availability for upcoming international matches with Portugal national football team as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Portugal is scheduled to play:

  • Mexico national football team in Mexico City on March 28
  • United States men’s national soccer team in Atlanta on April 1

If recovery takes longer than expected, Ronaldo may miss these friendlies.

Still Prolific at 41

Despite being 41 years old, Ronaldo has continued to deliver remarkable numbers this season, scoring 21 goals in 22 league matches for Al Nassr.

For now, both club and country will be hoping the injury heals quickly so the veteran striker can return to the pitch soon.
