Mumbai Crime Branch Detains 37 Bangladeshi Nationals Living Illegally, Deportation Process Underway
Mumbai, July 21: In a major operation against illegal immigration, the Mumbai Crime Branch has detained 37 Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly residing in the city without valid travel or residential documents. The action was taken as part of a special enforcement drive aimed at identifying foreign nationals staying illegally in Mumbai.
The operation was carried out by multiple teams of the Detection Branch-1 of the Mumbai Crime Branch following intelligence inputs and routine verification exercises. During the drive, officials identified several individuals who were allegedly unable to produce valid documents authorising their entry into or stay in India.
After detaining the individuals, the police conducted a detailed verification process to establish their identities, nationality and the route through which they had entered the country. Investigators also examined the documents they had allegedly used while residing in Mumbai.
Following the verification process, the authorities initiated the required legal formalities to facilitate their deportation to Bangladesh in accordance with the provisions of Indian law.
Police officials said the operation forms part of an ongoing campaign to detect and act against foreign nationals who are staying in the country without legal permission. Such drives are being carried out regularly to strengthen security and ensure compliance with immigration laws.
