Delhi Traffic Head Constable Killed by Speeding Car While Installing Speed Monitoring Device at Singhu Border
New Delhi: A Delhi Traffic Police head constable lost his life after being struck by a speeding car while on duty at the Singhu Border in outer north Delhi on Wednesday evening. The tragic incident occurred while the officer was installing a speed monitoring device near a traffic booth to improve road safety.
The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Amit, a resident of Sonipat in neighbouring Haryana. According to police, the accident took place at around 6 pm when the speeding vehicle hit the officer and the driver fled the scene without stopping.
Amit’s colleagues immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
In a statement, the Delhi Police expressed grief over the loss, saying, “It is with deep regret that Head Constable Amit, posted in the Traffic Unit at Singhu Border, has passed away in a hit-and-run incident.” He is survived by his wife and two children.
Following the incident, Delhi Police launched an extensive search operation. Multiple teams were formed to trace the vehicle and identify the accused. Investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and collected technical and forensic evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events and track the vehicle’s movement.
Police later confirmed that the accused driver was arrested within hours, and the vehicle involved in the incident was seized. Further investigation into the case is underway.
