Mystery Deepens in Dhanbad After Woman’s Half-Burnt Body Found in Bathroom; Brothers Give Conflicting Accounts

A disturbing case from Dhanbad in Jharkhand has left police and locals searching for answers after the half-burnt body of a woman was discovered inside her home.

The victim, identified as Lipika Kumari, was found days after her death at her residence in Govindpur. Neighbours alerted the police when a strong foul smell began coming from the house, leading authorities to the shocking discovery.

According to reports, Lipika had died on April 7, but her body remained inside the home for several days. By the time it was found, it had already started decomposing.

What has puzzled investigators even more are the conflicting statements given by her two brothers.

Her elder brother, Pranav Rajyavardhan, told police that Lipika had been unwell on the day she died. He said she had vomited several times and appeared extremely weak. According to him, he tried to comfort her by covering her with a blanket and rubbing her feet, but she soon collapsed.

Pranav claimed he informed his younger brother about the situation, but said the latter did not come home for several days.

As the body began to decompose and insects started infesting it, Pranav said he panicked and tried to burn the body in an attempt to get rid of the worms.

However, the younger brother, Pradyut Rajyavardhan, strongly disputed his brother’s version. He told police that he was not present at the house when the incident happened and insisted that he never saw the body.

He also said he had not been informed about the situation by his elder brother.

Adding another layer to the tragedy, family members said Lipika had been struggling emotionally since the death of her father in 2023. He had worked as a scientist at the Central Institute of Medical and Forensic Research and died of a heart attack.

Police have now sent Lipika’s body for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators say the medical report will play a crucial role in understanding what really happened inside the house.

For now, the case remains shrouded in mystery as authorities try to piece together the truth behind the shocking discovery.
