Himachal Pradesh CBSE Schools to Get New Green-Themed Uniforms as Sukhu Pushes for Better Education
Himachal Pradesh is set to introduce a new visual identity for its CBSE schools, with students, teachers and school buildings all receiving a coordinated colour scheme.
A meeting of the Education Department was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to finalise the proposed dress codes for teachers, uniforms for students and the colour scheme for CBSE school buildings across the state.
During the meeting, it was decided that students studying in CBSE schools in Himachal Pradesh would have a distinct uniform based on a green colour scheme. The move is intended to give these schools a separate and recognisable identity while maintaining a neat and consistent appearance.
The new colour theme will extend beyond student uniforms. School buildings will also receive a coordinated makeover, with authorities deciding to use olive green and sand beige shades for their exteriors.
Separate Dress Code for Teachers
Teachers in these schools will also follow a clearly defined dress code designed to present a formal and professional appearance.
Under the proposed guidelines, female teachers will wear light lilac-purple dresses, while male teachers will wear light blue shirts and trousers.
The government has emphasised that the overall dress code should be neat, formal, modest and professional. Teachers will also be expected to keep accessories to a minimum while on duty.
Another important requirement is that teachers must wear their identity cards while on duty, making it easier for students, parents and visitors to identify school staff.

Focus on Quality Education and Better Facilities

Several senior officials and elected representatives participated in the meeting where the new dress code and school colour scheme were discussed.
MLAs Suresh Kumar, Chander Shekhar and Neeraj Nayyar, along with Member of the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission Vijay Pal Singh, Secretary of Education Rakesh Kanwar and Director of School Education Ashish Kohli, were among those present.
The discussions focused on establishing a uniform approach for CBSE schools while also ensuring that the broader objective of improving education remains at the centre of the initiative.
Himachal Students Get International Exposure
The education department has also been focusing on providing students with opportunities beyond the classroom.
Earlier this month, 44 meritorious BTech students from engineering colleges across Himachal Pradesh left for the Japan International Exposure Tour-2026.
The tour is being organised by the Department of Technical Education from September 6 to 12. It is the department’s second international exposure tour and is aimed at giving talented students an opportunity to gain international exposure and learn from educational and technological developments outside India.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended his best wishes to the students participating in the tour.
