G Sudhakaran Says He Holds No Grudge Against Pinarayi Vijayan Despite Political Split

Veteran Kerala leader G Sudhakaran on Wednesday clarified that he has no personal enmity with former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, even after parting ways with the CPI(M).
Speaking shortly after taking oath as the pro tem Speaker of the Kerala Assembly, Sudhakaran said politics should not be driven by personal grudges. He added that while political differences may exist, he does not carry bitterness towards Vijayan.
The former CPI(M) leader, who won the Ambalapuzha Assembly seat as an Independent candidate backed by the UDF, said he sees Vijayan simply as another MLA during the Assembly oath-taking ceremony.
“Pinarayi Vijayan is also an MLA like everyone else. There is no place for personal hatred in politics,” Sudhakaran said while explaining that the oath-taking process would follow the Assembly’s standard protocol.
Reflecting on his long political journey, Sudhakaran revealed that he remained associated with the CPI(M) for 63 years before deciding not to renew his membership. He clarified that he neither resigned from the party nor was expelled.
At the same time, Sudhakaran suggested that both Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan share responsibility for the party’s defeat in the recent Assembly elections. However, he refrained from commenting on whether the two leaders should step down from their positions.
His remarks come amid growing political discussions in Kerala following the Assembly poll results and his dramatic shift from a longtime CPI(M) face to an Independent candidate supported by the opposition UDF.
