Rivalry Over Police Exam Success Claims Sparks Attack on Khan Sir’s Patna Coaching Centre

A late-night attack on the coaching institute run by popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir has exposed growing tensions within Patna’s highly competitive coaching industry. Police have arrested three people, including the director of a rival coaching institute, in connection with the incident.

According to police, the attack took place around 10:10 PM on June 2 at the Khan Global Studies Coaching Institute in Musallahpur, Patna. The institute, operated by educator Faizal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, was allegedly targeted by a group of 15 to 20 individuals who vandalized property and hurled stones at the premises.

Among those arrested is Raushan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute, along with three other accused named in the FIR. Police have also identified several unidentified individuals allegedly involved in the attack.

Investigators believe the incident may be linked to recent Bihar Police Constable recruitment examination results. Tensions reportedly escalated after Khan Sir’s institute claimed that a large number of successful candidates had been trained there and organized a felicitation event to celebrate their achievements.

Police officials said preliminary findings suggest that competition and resentment between coaching centres over claims of student success may have contributed to the confrontation. However, the exact motive remains under investigation.

Khan Sir has alleged that shortly after the celebration event, some individuals threatened his institute, warning that it would be attacked within days. He also claimed that thousands of students from his coaching centre had secured success in the police recruitment examination.

While initial reports suggested that firing may have occurred during the attack, police said CCTV footage and local inquiries have not found any evidence supporting those claims. The footage instead shows a group damaging a promotional hoarding belonging to the coaching centre and throwing bricks and stones toward the premises.

The attack left a security guard, identified as Chun Chun, injured after he was allegedly assaulted and struck with a brick. He sustained a head injury and is currently receiving treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

Authorities have registered a case under multiple sections of the law, including attempt to murder, rioting, criminal conspiracy, intimidation, causing hurt, vandalism, and other serious offences.

The incident has sparked concern among students and parents, highlighting the intense competition within Bihar’s coaching sector, where claims of examination success often play a major role in attracting aspiring candidates.

Police say further investigation is underway, and additional action will be taken based on evidence gathered during the probe.
