82-Year-Old Grandfather Killed While Walking to Meet Granddaughter in Andheri Road Tragedy

A routine evening walk ended in tragedy for an 82-year-old Mumbai resident who lost his life after being struck by a speeding motorcycle in Andheri West.

The victim, identified as Radhakrishna K. P. Menon, was reportedly on his way to meet his granddaughter—a daily ritual he cherished—when the fatal accident occurred on Lokhandwala Back Road on May 31.

According to local reports, Menon, a resident of Four Bungalows, was walking towards SVP Nagar when a motorcycle allegedly being ridden at high speed lost control and crashed into him. The impact was severe, and the elderly man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Residents say Menon regularly made the walk to spend time with his granddaughter, making the incident even more heartbreaking for family members and the local community.

The biker involved in the accident also sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Hospital. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The tragic incident has reignited concerns among residents about reckless driving and speeding on Lokhandwala Back Road. Many have called on civic authorities and traffic police to implement stricter enforcement measures, improve road safety monitoring, and take stronger action against traffic violations to prevent similar accidents.

The accident comes amid a series of recent road mishaps reported across Mumbai. Citizens have increasingly expressed concern about dangerous driving, particularly in residential and pedestrian-heavy areas where senior citizens and children are especially vulnerable.

As investigations continue, family members, neighbours, and local residents are mourning the loss of a man whose simple journey to see his granddaughter ended in an unimaginable tragedy.
