NDA Targets Opposition, Says Rahul Gandhi Is “Suffering From FOMO” as Gen Z Backs PM Modi
New Delhi: The BJP and its NDA allies on Tuesday defended the Centre’s engagement with protesting students, claiming that young people continue to trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and efforts to tackle the issue of paper leaks.
During the Lok Sabha debate, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, particularly Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Referring to popular Gen Z slang, Surya said the Opposition was under the false impression that young people supported its protests.
“I’ll explain it in Gen Z language. The Opposition thinks the youth are with them, but that’s the biggest ‘delulu’ (delusion). Gen Z knows that if any government is working to solve the paper leak problem, it is the Modi government,” Surya said.
He also accused Opposition parties of promoting cynicism and disorder instead of supporting reforms. According to Surya, the Centre has used the current crisis as an opportunity to introduce long-term, structural changes in the education system aimed at preventing future examination irregularities.
Joining the criticism, BJP MP Anurag Thakur alleged that Opposition parties were trying to gain political mileage by using students’ concerns. He argued that several paper leak incidents had occurred when many Opposition parties were in power in different states.
Thakur cited examples from Uttar Pradesh, claiming the previous state administration had allowed irregularities in recruitment and examination processes. He also questioned the functioning of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission during that period.
The BJP maintained that the government’s reforms and stricter measures against paper leaks demonstrate its commitment to protecting the interests of students and restoring confidence in the examination system. Opposition leaders, however, have continued to criticise the government’s handling of the issue and demand greater accountability.
