INDIA Bloc Gathers in Delhi to Rebuild Unity Amid Political Challenges

New Delhi: Leaders of the opposition’s INDIA alliance began arriving at Delhi’s Constitution Club on Monday for a crucial meeting aimed at strengthening the coalition and charting a common strategy against the BJP ahead of future elections.
The gathering comes at a sensitive time for the alliance, with internal differences emerging after recent electoral setbacks in several states. Representatives from 23 political parties are expected to participate in discussions focused on maintaining unity and preparing for upcoming political battles.
Senior Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and Pawan Khera, joined the meeting, while leaders such as Akhilesh Yadav, Omar Abdullah, Supriya Sule, and representatives from several regional parties also arrived in the capital.
However, notable allies DMK and AAP chose to stay away from the meeting, highlighting ongoing differences within the coalition. Despite their absence, several alliance leaders expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc remains committed to working together on issues affecting citizens, including inflation, unemployment, and economic concerns.
Ahead of the meeting, posters targeting Rahul Gandhi appeared across parts of Delhi, triggering a sharp political exchange between the Congress and BJP. Congress leaders described the posters as a sign of political nervousness, while BJP leaders continued to question the alliance’s unity and long-term viability.
The alliance is expected to discuss its future roadmap, coordination among member parties, and preparations for upcoming state elections as well as the 2029 Lok Sabha polls. Leaders are also likely to deliberate on safeguarding constitutional institutions, addressing public concerns, and presenting a united opposition platform.
Despite visible challenges, several leaders attending the meeting emphasized that the alliance remains focused on strengthening cooperation and building a collective strategy for the future.
