ED Attaches 17 Properties Worth ₹6.52 Crore in Daman and Gujarat in Suresh Patel Case

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Surat Sub-Zonal Office, has provisionally attached 17 immovable properties worth approximately ₹6.52 crore in Daman and Valsad, Gujarat, in connection with a money-laundering investigation involving Suresh Jagubhai Patel, also known as Sukha, and others.
The attachment was carried out on September 8, 2026, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
The ED initiated its investigation based on multiple FIRs registered by Daman Police, Gujarat Police and Mumbai Police against Suresh Patel and his alleged associates. The cases involve allegations of corruption, illegal possession of firearms, murder, extortion, forgery, passport forgery and copyright violations, among other offences.
According to the ED’s investigation, Suresh Jagubhai Patel allegedly established control over the scrap-trading and transport-services businesses in Daman by eliminating rival traders and using threats, intimidation and muscle power. The agency alleges that his criminal background was used to create fear and maintain dominance over these businesses.
As part of the proceedings, the ED had earlier filed Prosecution Complaint No. 10/2024 before the Special Court under the PMLA in Daman on November 27, 2024. The complaint named Suresh Jagubhai Patel, his associate Mahesh Nanda and others.
The latest action follows earlier seizures and attachments in the case. During previous search operations, cash and bank balances totalling ₹2.90 crore were seized or frozen. The agency had also provisionally attached 24 immovable properties in Daman and Mumbai, valued at approximately ₹4.42 crore. These attachments were subsequently confirmed by the PMLA Adjudicating Authority in New Delhi.
With the latest attachment of 17 properties worth around ₹6.52 crore, the total value of movable and immovable assets seized, attached or frozen in the case has reached approximately ₹13.85 crore.
The ED’s action is part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged criminal activities and financial proceeds linked to Suresh Patel and his associates.
