CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke’s Father Alleges BJP Threats, Says Family Was Warned After Party Launch
Pune : Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has allegedly received threats to join the BJP, with his family being warned of consequences if he refused, according to his father, Bhagwanrao Dipke.
Speaking to reporters after Abhijeet returned to his hometown in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bhagwanrao claimed that the family came across a threatening message on YouTube in mid-May, shortly after the launch of the CJP. According to him, the message warned that if Abhijeet did not become a BJP member, his parents would face consequences.
The allegations surfaced as Abhijeet returned home after spending over a month leading nationwide student protests in New Delhi against alleged examination irregularities. His campaign drew significant attention across the country and turned the CJP from an online satirical movement into a youth-led protest platform.
Bhagwanrao praised his son’s commitment, saying Abhijeet had sacrificed his personal career to fight for students and education reforms. He said his son chose to dedicate his education and abilities to public service instead of pursuing personal success.
The family also revealed that Abhijeet’s return home was intentionally kept simple. His father said the activist has never been comfortable with publicity or grand celebrations and has always preferred a low-profile lifestyle.
Who is Abhijeet Dipke?
Abhijeet Dipke completed his schooling in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar before earning a degree in Journalism in Pune. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Public Relations from Boston University in the United States.
Between 2020 and 2023, he worked as a digital and social media volunteer for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). On May 16, he launched the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical movement inspired by controversial remarks made by Chief Justice Surya Kant referring to the country’s youth as “cockroaches.”
What began as a social media campaign quickly gained nationwide popularity, attracting millions of followers and evolving into a large student movement. Dipke later returned from Boston to lead protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and in several other cities, demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak, student suicides and broader education reforms.
The protests reached their peak when thousands of students marched towards Parliament on July 20. The demonstrations resulted in police action and multiple FIRs being registered against protesters.
Government Agreement And Fresh Dispute
The agitation was suspended on July 25 after discussions between protest leaders and the government. According to the CJP, the Centre agreed to several key demands, including the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, withdrawal of FIRs filed against students, compensation for affected families and discussions on long-term education reforms.
However, the organisation now alleges that many students continue to face legal action despite those assurances. CJP leaders claim that FIRs remain in place in several states and accuse authorities of targeting student protesters. They have also criticised a recent Supreme Court interim order allowing investigations into existing FIRs to continue, arguing that it contradicts the government’s earlier commitments.
Dipke warned that if the promised withdrawal of FIRs is not implemented and students continue to face harassment, the organisation will launch another nationwide peaceful agitation.
Health Concerns And Emotional Homecoming
Soon after the protest ended, Abhijeet was reportedly diagnosed with typhoid. His mother said the family avoided organising a grand welcome because he needed rest and recovery after weeks of continuous protests.
After reaching home, Dipke shared on social media that he had first paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr B.R. Ambedkar before spending time with his family.
He also spoke emotionally about finally returning home after 36 days at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, saying he looked forward to sleeping peacefully in his own house and eating food prepared by his mother.
Marriage Proposals And Political Remarks
Abhijeet’s parents also revealed that they have been receiving a large number of marriage proposals for the 30-year-old activist, especially after he became the face of the nationwide student movement. His mother said the family plans to discuss marriage with him, but the final decision will be entirely his.
Responding to the recently passed anti-paper leak Bill, Dipke questioned whether the government’s intent had truly changed. He argued that passing new laws alone would not solve the problems unless there was genuine political will to reform the education system.
He also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Prime Minister’s social media presence was impressive and joking that he would do well as an influencer, while suggesting someone else should focus on governing.
Despite ending the initial protest, Dipke reiterated that the anger among students remains strong. He warned that if pending FIRs are not withdrawn and students continue to face action, the next nationwide protest would be even larger than the previous one.
