Bengaluru Engineer Robbed and Molested at Knifepoint Inside PG, Escapes by Locking Herself in Bathroom

In a terrifying ordeal, a 30-year-old assistant engineer working with BESCOM narrowly escaped a violent attack inside her paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru’s Judicial Layout.

The woman, who had moved into the PG just two weeks ago, returned home from work around 3 pm on August 11. Soon after, there was a knock on her door. Believing it was another resident, she opened it — only to be confronted by a stranger wielding a knife.

The man allegedly pressed the blade to her neck, demanded her gold bangle, and molested her while threatening to harm her if she resisted. Struggling to remove the bangle, she told him he could take cash from her vanity bag. When the attacker was momentarily distracted, she made a quick decision — rushing into the bathroom, locking the door, and shouting for help.

By the time others could respond, the accused had fled, taking her two mobile phones with him.

The Yelahanka police have launched a search for the man and are working to recover the stolen items. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of women in paying guest accommodations.
