Wedding Plans to Murder Plot: Pune Businessman’s Son Killed by Fiancée and Lover

What started as a heartbreaking trekking accident at Pune’s Lohagad Fort has now unfolded into a shocking murder mystery, exposing a chilling tale of betrayal, secret relationships, and a carefully planned conspiracy.

Ketan Agarwal, the young son of a prominent Maharashtra businessman, had his entire future planned ahead. He was engaged to Siya Goyal, and the two were set to tie the knot in November in what was expected to be a lavish celebration involving private jets and royal palaces. To family and friends, the couple appeared happy, deeply in love, and ready to begin a new chapter together.

But behind the smiles and wedding preparations, a darker truth was taking shape.

On June 18, Ketan and Siya went on what seemed like a casual trek to Lohagad Fort near Pune. During the outing, Ketan tragically fell into a gorge and lost his life. At first, authorities believed it to be an unfortunate accident. However, as police began examining CCTV footage from the area, one strange detail changed everything — a man wearing a hoodie in the middle of a hot 33-degree Celsius afternoon.

The footage showed Ketan and Siya walking together, while another man followed them from a distance of about 20 to 30 feet. Despite the extreme heat, the man was dressed in shorts and a hoodie covering most of his face, along with a headset. His suspicious appearance immediately caught investigators’ attention.

In another CCTV clip, Siya was seen suddenly turning back and noticing the hooded man. The moment she looked at him, he sat down, almost as if trying to avoid being recognized. That unusual behavior raised further suspicion.

Police soon identified the hooded man as Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, a 22-year-old businessman who allegedly shared a secret romantic relationship with Siya.

Investigators dug deeper and discovered that Siya and Chetan had been in constant contact over the past seven months. Records revealed that the two had exchanged over 2,004 phone calls, speaking for nearly 238 hours in total. The findings painted a clear picture of a relationship hidden from everyone while Ketan’s wedding preparations were moving forward.

According to police, Siya met Chetan at a business event last year. While Siya ran a bakery business, Chetan managed a dry fruit business. Their friendship reportedly turned into a romantic relationship in November 2025. But by then, Siya was already committed to Ketan, and both families were actively planning their marriage.

Police believe Chetan saw Ketan as the biggest obstacle in his relationship with Siya, and together they began plotting his murder.

The investigation also revealed disturbing details of previous failed attempts. Just weeks before the murder, Ketan and Siya were scheduled to travel to Bali for a pre-wedding photoshoot. But the trip was abruptly canceled when Ketan discovered his passport was missing at Mumbai airport. Ketan’s family now alleges that Siya deliberately hid the passport to sabotage the trip, possibly because the murder plan was already in motion.

Even more shocking, police say Siya had attempted to kill Ketan earlier on June 14 during another visit to Lohagad Fort. She allegedly pushed him near the edge of the cliff, but Ketan managed to save himself by grabbing onto a bush. To avoid suspicion, Siya reportedly screamed about seeing a snake and hugged him, pretending to comfort him.

When that failed, the duo allegedly returned with a stronger plan.

On June 18, Siya reportedly invited Ketan to Lohagad Fort once again under the excuse of spending quality time together. This time, Chetan was called to the location later. Police allege that together, Siya and Chetan pushed Ketan from behind into the gorge, ensuring his death.

Investigators were also surprised by Siya’s behavior after Ketan’s death. Officers noted that she showed little visible grief or emotional breakdown, which further strengthened their doubts.

Another important clue came from Ketan’s uncle, who revealed that Siya had earlier expressed uncertainty about the marriage and had even suggested postponing the wedding by a year.

With technical evidence, CCTV footage, phone records, and social media links all connecting the dots, police concluded that the murder was not spontaneous but part of a carefully planned conspiracy. Reports suggest the accused even had a “Plan C” ready in case their earlier attempts failed.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have now been arrested and charged with murder and criminal conspiracy. They have been sent to police custody for seven days as the investigation continues.

The case has shocked many across the country, not just because of the brutality of the crime, but because it was hidden behind what looked like a perfect love story. What was meant to end in a grand wedding instead turned into a tragic tale of betrayal, obsession, and murder — all uncovered because of one suspicious hoodie in the summer heat.
