Addressing the media on Monday, Kejriwal said the online campaign received strong public support within a short period. He said he plans to personally hand over the petition to the Prime Minister and explain why he believes the current ethanol policy needs to be reconsidered.
100 Volunteers to Join the March
Kejriwal said the march will begin from his office at 12 noon with a group of 100 volunteers. He added that only those willing to face possible police action or even arrest would be part of the delegation.
According to him, there is no need for a massive crowd, and he has invited interested supporters to register by sending messages through social media.
AAP Intensifies Campaign Against E20 Fuel Policy
The proposed march is the latest step in AAP’s campaign against the Centre’s E20 fuel policy.
Kejriwal outlined three key demands before the government:
- Petrol pumps should offer consumers a choice between E20 fuel and pure petrol.
- E20 fuel should be sold at a lower price than regular petrol.
- The price of petrol should be reduced to below ₹84 per litre.
Appeal to Delay Vehicle Purchases
Kejriwal also urged people to postpone buying petrol and diesel vehicles until automobile manufacturers begin producing vehicles compatible with E100 fuel.
He claimed that consumers could face financial losses if they purchase vehicles that may not be fully compatible with future ethanol-blended fuel policies.
The AAP leader said the petition represents the concerns of lakhs of citizens and expressed hope that the Centre would consider the demands and engage in a discussion on the issue.
