Noida Woman’s Death Sparks Dowry Harassment Allegations, Husband and In-Laws Arrested

A 24-year-old woman from Greater Noida allegedly died by suicide after facing repeated dowry harassment from her husband and in-laws, according to police and her family. The shocking case has triggered outrage after the postmortem reportedly revealed multiple serious injuries on her body.

The victim, identified as Deepika Nagar from Kudi Khera village, had been married for just 14 months. She was living with her husband Hrithik in Greater Noida’s Ecotech-III area.

According to police, Deepika allegedly jumped from the roof of her house on the night of May 17. Her family claims she had been under constant mental and physical pressure over dowry demands since shortly after the wedding.

Deepika’s father, Sanjay, said he had visited her in-laws’ house earlier that same day to discuss the ongoing disputes. However, less than an hour after leaving, he received a phone call informing him that his daughter had fallen from the roof.

The family alleged that despite already giving a Fortuner SUV and around ₹1 crore during the marriage, Deepika continued to face demands for more dowry. They claim she was frequently harassed and assaulted by her husband and relatives.

The postmortem report reportedly revealed severe internal injuries, including a ruptured spleen, blood clots in the head and multiple bruise marks, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father, police registered an FIR against several members of the in-laws’ family, including her husband Hrithik, father-in-law Manoj, mother-in-law Kusum, sisters-in-law Neha and Netra, along with other relatives.

Police confirmed that Deepika’s husband and father-in-law have been arrested, while further investigation into the case is ongoing.

The incident has once again reignited concerns over dowry-related violence and the safety of women within abusive marriages.
