Mumbai Family of Four Dies After Eating Watermelon Laced With Rat Poison

A shocking case from Mumbai has taken a tragic turn after investigators confirmed that a family of four died due to rat poison found inside a watermelon they had eaten.

Police said forensic tests detected traces of zinc phosphide, a highly toxic chemical commonly used as rat poison, in the bodies of the victims as well as in the watermelon consumed by them. This has ruled out earlier assumptions that the deaths were caused by ordinary food poisoning.

The victims were identified as Abdullah Dokadia, his wife Nasreen Dokadia, and their two daughters Ayesha Dokadia and Zainab Dokadia.

The incident happened on April 26 in the Pydhonie area of Mumbai, where the family reportedly consumed the fruit before falling critically ill.

Authorities are now investigating how the poison entered the watermelon. Police are exploring multiple possibilities, including whether it was an intentional act, accidental contamination, or a case of suicide.

The heartbreaking deaths have shocked the local community, with many waiting for answers as the investigation continues.
