Lucknow University Professor Arrested Over Alleged Paper Leak and Misconduct Complaint

A professor from Lucknow University has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh police following serious allegations of exam paper leaks and inappropriate behaviour with a female student.
The accused, Dr Paramjeet Singh, is alleged to have shared confidential examination-related information through audio recordings. He is also accused of making objectionable remarks and offering undue favours to a female student during phone conversations that later surfaced on social media.
Police registered a case at Hasanaganj police station after the university administration launched an internal inquiry into the matter. Officials said the controversy began after a female student approached the university with audio clips allegedly featuring conversations between her and the professor.
According to university authorities, the recordings raised concerns about both academic malpractice and misconduct. The administration stated that the institution follows a strict “zero-tolerance” policy against actions that damage the dignity of the university or compromise the academic environment.
Vice Chancellor J P Saini has reportedly directed the university’s Internal Complaints Committee to submit its findings within 24 hours. The university also confirmed that the controller of examinations filed a formal complaint, leading to the FIR against the professor.
Meanwhile, Dr Paramjeet Singh has denied all allegations. Before his arrest, he told media outlets that he was being falsely implicated due to “internal politics” within the university.
Police investigations are currently underway, and authorities say strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven true.
