Indian-Origin New Jersey Man Pleads Guilty in Child Sexual Abuse Material Case, Could Face Up to 20 Years in Prison
Washington, August 14, 2026: An Indian-origin man in New Jersey has pleaded guilty in a US federal court after investigators found that he had knowingly accessed illegal child sexual abuse material, according to the US Department of Justice.
Abhishek Vijaykumar, who lives in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, admitted to accessing the material in March 2024. The case was investigated by the FBI’s Newark Field Office, with assistance from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit.
During the investigation, authorities examined Vijaykumar’s electronic devices and reportedly found more than 200 images containing child sexual abuse material. Investigators said one of the images involved the sexual abuse of a three-year-old child.
Vijaykumar entered his guilty plea on Wednesday in federal court in New Jersey. The plea marks a significant development in the case and could result in a lengthy prison sentence.

Vijaykumar faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. His sentencing is scheduled for January 6, 2027.
