Air Force Hero From Rajasthan Killed in Pak Air Strike, Leaves Behind Heartbroken Family and a Village in Mourning

Surendra Kumar, a dedicated medical assistant serving in the Indian Air Force, was tragically killed in a Pakistani air strike early Saturday morning in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. A native of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, the 14-year veteran of the IAF’s medical wing had returned to duty on April 15 after spending cherished time with his family.
Surendra was posted at the 39 Wing in Udhampur and had recently celebrated a major milestone—completing the construction of his new home in his village. The housewarming ceremony, or Griha Pravesh, had been held just days before he resumed his service.
His sacrifice was confirmed by Army Headquarters, which reached out to his brother-in-law, Jai Prakash, with the devastating news. Remembered fondly by his uncle, Subhash Moga, Surendra was known for his patriotism and kindness, and often encouraged young people in his village to join the armed forces.
Surendra leaves behind his wife Seema, an 8-year-old daughter, and a 5-year-old son. His father, Shishupal Singh, himself a retired CRPF personnel, had passed away earlier. Seema, who was at her maternal home in Nawalgarh after her grandfather’s death, was admitted to the district hospital after her health declined upon hearing the news of her husband’s death.
District Collector Ram Avtar Meena and Superintendent of Police Sharad Chaudhary visited Seema in the hospital, ensuring she received special care. They later met Surendra’s mother at their village, offering condolences and support.
The village of Jhunjhunu stands united in grief and pride. Surendra Kumar’s sacrifice is a painful reminder of the cost of duty, and he joins the ranks of countless brave sons of the soil who have laid down their lives for the nation. His memory will live on—not just in his family’s hearts, but in the spirit of his village and the country he served.
