ACA Inaugurates One of India’s Largest Indoor Cricket Facilities in North Guwahati
Assam has taken another major step towards strengthening its cricketing infrastructure with the inauguration of one of the country’s largest indoor cricket facilities at the ACA Cricket Academy in North Guwahati.
The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated on Friday, has been designed to give cricketers a modern and professional environment where they can train, work on their skills and focus on fitness and recovery throughout the year.
Spread across nearly 17,000 square feet, the indoor centre features nine cricket wickets, including four designed to assist spin bowling and five offering seam-friendly conditions. The wickets use imported Uniturf playing surfaces, allowing players to prepare for a variety of match situations without having to worry about weather interruptions.
But the facility goes well beyond cricket nets. It includes separate changing rooms for men’s and women’s teams, with both equipped with ice baths to support post-training recovery. There is also a 1,500-square-foot gymnasium, along with sauna and steam facilities.
A dedicated physiotherapy centre has also been included, providing players with professional support for rehabilitation, injury management and recovery. The idea is to bring several important aspects of a cricketer’s development — from skill training and strength conditioning to recovery and rehabilitation — under one roof.
Speaking at the inauguration, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia highlighted the importance of providing players with access to modern training facilities.
“The development of modern cricket infrastructure is essential for creating the right environment for players to learn, train and progress,” Saikia said.
He added that the new centre would bring quality cricketing surfaces, fitness, recovery and physiotherapy facilities together in one place, expressing confidence that it would play an important role in nurturing Assam’s next generation of cricketers.
For young players in the state, the facility could prove to be much more than just another training centre. With access to better surfaces, specialist fitness facilities and dedicated recovery support, aspiring cricketers will have more opportunities to develop their game in a professional environment.
