Shillong: Meghalaya Police have registered 15 FIRs following the violence that broke out during a Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) bike rally in Shillong, leaving 16 people injured and several vehicles damaged, including two that were set on fire.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said police have launched an intensive investigation to identify those responsible for the violence and bring them to justice.
The trouble unfolded on Wednesday during the KSU rally, which was organised as part of the students’ union’s ongoing campaign over a range of demands. According to police, the clashes and incidents of vandalism resulted in 31 vehicles being damaged, while two vehicles were completely set ablaze.
