Rajpal Yadav Faces Fresh Trouble As Bank Moves To Auction Ancestral Property Over ₹16.61 Crore Loan

Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is facing fresh financial challenges after the Central Bank of India initiated recovery proceedings against his ancestral property in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district over alleged unpaid dues of ₹16.61 crore.

The bank has issued an attachment notice against the mortgaged properties and warned that they could be auctioned online on September 9 if the outstanding amount is not cleared within the stipulated period. The move comes weeks after the Delhi High Court sentenced the actor to three months in prison in a cheque bounce case connected to the same financial dispute.

According to reports, the bank has attached Rajpal Yadav’s ancestral home located in Kundra village of Shahjahanpur. Another property in the district has also been included in the recovery process. The bank estimates that the total outstanding dues stand at ₹16.61 crore, while the combined value of the attached properties is reportedly around ₹3.19 crore.

A source familiar with the matter said that the bank plans to recover the pending loan amount through an online auction. Interested bidders will reportedly have to deposit an earnest money amount before participating in the process.

Loan Trouble Linked To Film Production Venture

The financial dispute dates back to Rajpal Yadav’s first directorial venture, Ata Pata Lapata. Reports suggest that the actor had established Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited in 2005 and later secured a loan of around ₹5 crore from the Central Bank of India’s Mumbai branch to finance the film.

However, the movie did not perform well commercially, and the loan reportedly remained unpaid. Over the years, interest and additional charges increased the outstanding amount, which has now reached ₹16.61 crore, according to the bank’s notice.

To secure the loan, several properties in Shahjahanpur were reportedly mortgaged, including properties connected to Rajpal Yadav, his wife Radha Yadav, and his mother Godavari Yadav.

Family Says Matter Is Being Resolved

While the bank has started recovery proceedings, Rajpal Yadav’s family has maintained that the situation is under discussion with the authorities.

The actor’s elder brother Shripal Yadav said that talks with the bank are ongoing and expressed confidence that the matter would be settled before any auction takes place.

He described the issue as an old financial matter and said efforts are being made to find a solution.

Earlier Recovery Action By Bank

This is not the first time the Central Bank of India has taken action regarding the loan.

In August 2024, the bank had reportedly sealed a portion of Rajpal Yadav’s property in Shahjahanpur after the dues had increased significantly. The action was taken as part of the bank’s recovery process against the properties mortgaged for the loan.

Cheque Bounce Case Adds To Actor’s Legal Challenges

The latest property attachment comes amid Rajpal Yadav’s ongoing legal battle over cheque bounce cases linked to the same financial issue.

The Delhi High Court recently sentenced the actor to three months’ imprisonment in multiple cheque bounce cases and directed him to clear the pending financial liabilities. The court also considered the amount already deposited by him while deciding the matter.

The legal dispute has continued for several years, with earlier court proceedings involving both Rajpal Yadav and his wife, Radha Yadav.

Actor Continues Film Career Despite Challenges

Despite facing financial and legal difficulties, Rajpal Yadav remains active in the entertainment industry. The actor, known for his comic roles in films such as Hungama, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Chup Chup Ke, was recently seen in Welcome to the Jungle.

He is also expected to appear in filmmaker Priyadarshan’s upcoming project Haiwaan, alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.

The latest development marks another setback for the actor as he continues to deal with the long-running financial dispute and related legal proceedings.
