Pune Realtor Murder: Fiancee Allegedly Diverted ₹1 Crore Meant for Wedding to Lover, Say Police Sources

Pune, Fresh details have emerged in the murder investigation of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, with police sources alleging that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, took nearly ₹1 crore from him for wedding preparations and handed the money to her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary.

According to investigators, the money was originally given by Agarwal to fund the couple’s wedding shopping and preparations. However, police claim Goyal transferred the entire amount to Chaudhary to help him establish his career and strengthen his business.

Investigators say Chaudhary had told Goyal that he needed at least three years to become financially stable. The two allegedly planned to marry only after that period, believing the passage of time would reduce suspicion surrounding Agarwal’s death.

Alleged Three-Year Plan After the Murder

Police sources claim the accused had carefully mapped out their future. According to the alleged plan, Goyal would remain unmarried for three years following Agarwal’s death while Chaudhary focused on improving his financial condition.

Investigators believe the delay was intended to distance the couple from the crime and eventually gain acceptance from Goyal’s family before getting married.

Police Detail Alleged Murder Plot

Police allege the murder at Lohagad Fort on June 18 was meticulously planned.

According to investigators, Goyal was instructed to give Chaudhary a pre-arranged signal by sitting down, either under the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces. Once she sat down, Chaudhary would allegedly approach from behind and push the unsuspecting Agarwal into the gorge.

Officials claim the signal also served another purpose — ensuring Goyal remained out of Agarwal’s reach during the fall. Investigators believe the accused feared Agarwal might instinctively grab Goyal if he was pushed while she was standing beside him.

Scooter Used to Avoid Detection

Police further revealed that Chaudhary allegedly travelled nearly 90 kilometres from Pune to Lohagad Fort on a scooter instead of using a car.

Investigators believe he deliberately avoided driving a car to prevent his movements from being captured at toll plazas. The scooter has since been seized as part of the investigation.

Call Records Under Investigation

Police sources also claim call detail records (CDRs) show that Goyal spoke to Chaudhary around 34 minutes before the alleged murder. Investigators suspect the conversation may have been the final confirmation before the plan was executed.

According to the investigation, the conspiracy had been finalised by the end of May.

Police also allege there was an earlier attempt to kill Agarwal on June 14 during a visit to the same fort. Investigators claim he survived after grabbing onto a bush, following which Goyal allegedly told him she had accidentally pushed him after being startled by a snake.

When the first attempt failed, police allege the accused returned to Lohagad Fort on June 18, where Chaudhary followed the couple to ensure the plan was carried out successfully.

The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations are based on police findings and sources. The accused are yet to stand trial, and the charges remain to be tested in court.
