Across the city, minor criminals are increasingly involved in violent offences—ranging from assaults and stabbings to robbery and even murder—highlighting growing concerns over public safety.
Despite ongoing efforts by the police, including special crime branch teams assigned to monitor habitual offenders, the situation appears to be slipping. Many of these individuals, once released on bail, are quickly returning to criminal activities, creating a cycle that’s becoming harder to break.
Official records paint a worrying picture: hundreds of listed goons, dozens of history-sheeters, and over a thousand individuals currently under surveillance. Yet, incidents of violence continue to rise, suggesting gaps in monitoring and preventive policing.
Several neighborhoods have become hotspots for such activities. Areas like Aishbagh, TT Nagar, Nishatpura, Chhola Mandir, Mangalwara, Jahangirabad, Ashoka Garden, Teela, Bajaria, and Bairagarh are frequently witnessing gang-related incidents, making daily life stressful for residents.
