Former Rajasthan Minister Mahesh Joshi Arrested in Money Laundering Probe Linked to Jal Jeevan Mission

Mahesh Joshi, a Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister, has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Jaipur in connection with a money laundering case. The case involves alleged irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission, a scheme aimed at providing safe drinking water through household tap connections.

The ED took Joshi into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Thursday. The investigation is based on an FIR filed by Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which is probing the implementation of the scheme by the state’s Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department. Joshi had served as the minister in charge of the department during the previous Ashok Gehlot-led government.

The ED has already arrested four individuals in the case, and the investigation continues.
