Air India Plane Crash: High-Level Government Panel to Convene Tomorrow

New Delhi:
The government-constituted high-level multi-disciplinary committee investigating the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad will hold its first meeting on Monday, according to sources.
Headed by the Union Home Secretary, the panel is tasked with submitting its findings within three months.
The primary objective of the committee is to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, a parallel investigation is being conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is examining the technical causes of the crash.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu stated that while the AAIB focuses on technical aspects, the high-level committee will take a more comprehensive approach, offering policy-based recommendations to enhance aviation safety.
The aircraft’s black box was recovered from the crash site on Friday evening. The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday afternoon. Of the 242 people on board, only one survived.
