An Indian YouTuber has been reportedly detained in Turkey after a series of controversial videos sparked widespread outrage on social media. Malik SD Khan, who goes by the online alias Malik Swashbuckler, is at the center of the storm following accusations of making sexually explicit and derogatory comments about Turkish women in his videos.
Several clips from his channel, now deleted, showed Malik using crude language in Hindi—apparently assuming locals wouldn’t understand—as he made rape threats and other inappropriate remarks. In one video, he referred to a woman as “maal,” and in another, shockingly asked viewers whether he should sexually assault his Turkish tour guide at night. He was also seen verbally abusing a shopkeeper in a Turkish store for not displaying the Indian flag.
Although Malik has since taken down his YouTube and Instagram accounts, snippets of his content continue to circulate online. Some Turkish social media users who understood the Hindi remarks raised concerns, leading to public outrage and calls for action. According to a report by Turkiye Today, Malik has been taken into custody by local authorities.
