Zeeshan Akhtar, a prime accused in the high-profile murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddique, has been arrested in Canada, Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, confirmed on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old suspect was reportedly detained in Canada in connection with a fake passport case, sources said.

“Zeeshan, who is linked to the Baba Siddique murder case, has been arrested in Canada. We have started the process to bring him back to India. Further interrogation will take place once he is in our custody,” Minister Kadam told PTI Videos.

According to Mumbai Police, jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, had allegedly ordered the killing, hiring Zeeshan Akhtar and another accused, Shubham Lonkar, to execute the plan.

Baba Siddique, a former minister and prominent political figure in Maharashtra, was gunned down in the Bandra area on October 12, 2024.
