“Why Paresh Rawal Walked Away from Hera Pheri 3: Actor’s Lawyers Break Silence Amid Legal Tussle with Akshay Kumar”

The much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 has now found itself in the middle of an unexpected legal storm, not because of the storyline—but due to the sudden exit of one of its most beloved stars, Paresh Rawal, who played the iconic Babu Bhaiyya. The actor’s departure, which left fans heartbroken, has now escalated into a full-blown legal issue involving none other than Akshay Kumar himself, who is producing the film.
On Sunday, Rawal hinted at the growing tension on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest.”
Later that day, his legal team, Anand & Naik, issued an official statement breaking their silence. They clarified that Rawal decided to exit the project due to key contractual and creative lapses. According to the statement, the producers failed to provide a finalized script, screenplay, and a formal long-form agreement—essentials that any seasoned actor would require before committing to a major film.
Adding to the uncertainty was a legal notice sent to Rawal by Firoz Nadiadwala, the original producer of the Hera Pheri series, which further complicated the deal. Given these red flags, Rawal chose to step back and returned the signing amount—₹11 lakh with interest—to Akshay Kumar’s production house, thereby formally terminating his agreement.
The exit didn’t sit well with Akshay Kumar. The actor-producer reportedly initiated legal action, claiming that Rawal’s sudden departure caused financial and logistical disruptions to the film’s production.
However, Rawal maintained that his decision had nothing to do with creative differences or any conflict with director Priyadarshan, a long-time collaborator. “I have great respect for Priyadarshan. My choice was personal and thoughtful,” he said, adding that the character of Babu Bhaiyya, though iconic, no longer inspired him as an artist.
The actor’s lawyers also addressed the financial setback claims made by Akshay Kumar’s camp. They stated that the team accepted the signing amount without providing any substantial material in return—not even a clear storyline or title clarity—making any claims of loss baseless.
As legal teams on both sides weigh their next steps, the fate of Hera Pheri 3 hangs in the balance. And for fans, the possibility of not seeing Babu Bhaiyya’s classic quirks on screen again is perhaps the biggest loss of all.
