Wanted Gangster Joginder Gyong Deported from Philippines, Handed Over to Delhi Police

In a major breakthrough for Indian law enforcement, wanted gangster Joginder Gyong has been deported from the Philippines and handed over to Delhi Police. Gyong, who was convicted of illegal firearms possession in Haryana and sentenced to life imprisonment, was also wanted for multiple serious crimes, including murder and extortion, across various states in India.
A Global Manhunt Ends in Capture
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had issued an Interpol Red Notice against Gyong on October 25, 2024, alerting law enforcement agencies worldwide to track him down. Acting on India’s request for his extradition, the Philippines Bureau of Immigration (PBI) apprehended him in Bacolod City and facilitated his deportation via Bangkok to Delhi.
Murder in Revenge for Brother’s Death
Gyong was wanted by Haryana Police in connection with a murder case in Panipat, where he allegedly killed a man for leaking the location of his gangster brother, Surender Gyong, to the police. Surender was later killed in a police encounter. Seeking revenge, Joginder Gyong is believed to have planned and executed the murder of the suspected informant.
Criminal Record Across Multiple States
Authorities revealed that Gyong was involved in criminal activities in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana, facing charges related to robbery, murder, attempted murder, extortion, and kidnapping for ransom.
Despite being sentenced to life imprisonment for illegal firearms possession in Haryana, Gyong was out on parole when he committed the Panipat murder in December 2017 before fleeing the country.
Now in Delhi Police custody, Gyong is expected to face legal proceedings in India, marking a significant step in cracking down on organized crime and fugitives evading justice abroad.
